Cubald's sire Tuschinski, who was the 2004 Pavo Cup Reserve Champion at age four, combines Krack C's genes with Pion's durability and health. Krack C competed in international dressage under Anky van Grunsven. Cubald is a well developed stallion with a good front end, bred by former Breeders of the Year, Huub and Tiny van Helvoirt. Other horses bred by the couple include the stallions Jazz, Tango, and Zuidenwind; and the National Mare Selection Champions, Zhara-Obertje and Andy. Cubald's dressage traits are firmly established through the pairing of Jazz with the Van Helvoirt dam-line. Many sport horses have come out of this line, and the Jazz's record as a breeding stallion is unparalleled. Cubald's great-granddam Parmante, who descends from the Thoroughbred Pericles xx, produced a Grand Prix jumper by Le Mexico.
