Marius Claudius Recognized
On a regular base, the KWPN stallion selection committee for dressage horses and jumpers, make an assesment which international jumper and dressage stallions can be recognised for KWPN breeding. To be recognised, a stallion should be renowned at the highest level in the international sport, because of his own performances or those of his offspring, or a combination of both.
The stallion selection committee for jumpers has decide to recognise the international showjumper Marius Claudius.
Marius Claudius was born in 1994 in Holland. The 1.70 hh bay is sired by the preferent stallion Concorde. His dam is Icara, a daughter of the preferent stallion Nimmerdor. Granddam Anoescara is a keur mare by the keur stallion Legaat. Great grand dam Selmacara (Lucky Boy xx x Amor) has the predicates keur preferent prestatie.
As a young horse, Marius Claudius was sold to England. Until he was six years old he was taught by his owner Penny Cornish, after which Robert Smith started riding him. The stallion was immediately successful in international young horse classes. As 8-year old he won the World Cup qualifiers in Athens and Lisboa
The stallion has been active in international showjumping until last year and has been really successful. He won classes in Bordeaux, Geneva, Hickstead, Rotterdam, Rome, Dublin, Madrid, Verona and Oslo, among others.
Individually recognised stallions don’t have to meet the KWPN requirements on constitution. The radiographic results are weighed very heavily. Marius Claudius’ radiographs were made when he was 14 years old, after an extensive show career in international sports. His navicular bones are assessed to be in class 3. The rest of the radiographic assessment of his skeleton meets the KWPN-criteria.
