Eight talented young stallions competed in the final of the L-class stallion competition, five of which qualified for the jump-off. However, the results of this competition did not count toward the final standing of the competition round. The second place finisher of the day competition won the final; that was Zidane (s. Ladas), ridden by Mathijs van Asten, who performed consistently in all the competitions. Zapatero VDL (s.Chin Chin), the competition winner, finished second in the final standings with Dennis van Tilburg in the saddle. Zapatero VDL was keen to jump yet very careful; he was quick and tucked his legs nicely. Carambole (s.Cassini I) finished third in the final standings with Willem Greve. Although the stallion had the lead in the interim standings, he dropped to third place as the result of a fault. Carambole has a very good and balanced canter and is quick off the ground.

The field of high quality competitors in the M-class of the GMB Stallion Competition delivered excellent sport and an exciting jump-off. Peter Geerink and Wallenberg (s. Stakkato) pulled out all the stops to capture the win, the gray stallion cooperating fully with his rider. The incredible jumper Warrant finished second with Maikel van de Vleuten. Warrant jumps with great power and scope, performing his job with ease. The third place finisher was Whistler (s.Holland) with Hester Klompmaker. Whistler is a very keen and energetic stallion.

Vaillant (s.For Pleasure) won the jump-off in the Z-class final competition. His rider Wim Schröder rode a very well-controlled round on the bay stallion with a big canter and lots of scope. Schröder took short cuts where he could and finished the course without problem, besting his brother Ben, who rode immediately before him on Unaniem. This stallion also jumped a beautiful round but was not as quick as Vaillant. Unaniem placed third in the final competition. The keen stallion Viceroy T (s.Indoctro) and Kevin Olsmeijer finished in second place, between the two Schröder brothers. Viceroy T is cooperative and quick off the ground. He also finished second in the final standings. Vegas VDL (s.Atlantic), who was fifth in the day competition, finished the winner in the final standings. In the last competition, Vegas VDL downed a pole but by that time had already more than proved his worth as a jumper.

As is customary, the jumping evening of the KWPN Stallion Selection concluded with the VHO trophy competition. Mathijs van Asten and Cartano, the third combination to go, pulled out all the stops. In a gutsy round, Van Asten took the necessary risks and the scopey gray stallion cooperated fully. The combination flew full speed over the course, finishing in an unbelievably quick time. Several riders also made valiant attempts, including second place finisher Willem Greve with Casantos, who put in a beautiful round but could not beat the winning time.

Angelique Hoorn and Tygo are a new combination in the ring. Despite their limited experience together, the match seems to be a good one, horse and rider in tune with one another. They rode a good round and finished third.
