Today, the seven harness horse stallions already at the KWPN Center were joined by their fellow KWPN stallions from the other three breeding directions: jumping, dressage, and Gelder horse. As a result, the spring performance test promises ample diversity. The three-year-old Gelder stallion champion Henkie was on this morning's start list, while the three older Gelder stallions are slated for the 50-day test.

The morning kicked off with the three-year-old dressage stallions. As customary, the Stallion Selection Committee evaluated them for trainability, under their usual rider. All 15 were declared trainable by the committee and deemed sound by the veterinarians. Two stallions were presented on a voluntary basis. Prior to their under-saddle performance, the committee evaluated them on conformation and lineage. In addition, the two stallions underwent a veterinary inspection in their stall. With both horses declared acceptable, the total number of dressage stallions participating in this performance test is 17. Next, the audience favorite from ’s-Hertogenbosch made his appearance in the ring: the Gelder stallion Henkie (s.Alexandro P). He is slated for the 70-day test, in which he will be evaluated for talent in dressage, jumping, and driving. As customary, the Stallion Selection Committee for Jumpers evaluated the selected jumpers under their usual rider and declared all 19 ready for the test. Dr. Krijn van Muiswinkel and Dr. Astrid Bos, who are again providing veterinary services for the performance test, gave the "green light" to all the stallions. They will be joined by catalog number 22/091 (Cornet Obolensky x Lazio), who is participating in the test on a voluntary basis. Like the dressage stallions, he too was evaluated for conformation and lineage prior to his under-saddle performance. With the inclusion of the Cornet Obolensky, this year's spring performance test boasts 20 jumper stallions. In accordance with KWPN regulations, the following two jumper stallions are eligible for the follow-up delivery on Tuesday, March 24th. One is catalog number 15/219 (Sir Shutterfly x Chin Chin), who underwent a veterinary examination only today. He was observed to have a skin infection. The other stallion is catalog number 6/086 (Comme il Faut x Colbert). He has a small wound, and as a result, may join the test in progress next week.
