Stallion Selection Yields Seven for Second Round Viewing
The young horse championships are the only path through which stallions ages 4 - 7 can be selected for the KWPN performance test. Prior to the championships, participating stallions are evaluated on hard ground for conformation and correctness, after which they compete in their respective age group.
Yesterday, the stallion selection committee advanced seven jumper stallions to the second round viewing in which they were evaluated against their peers. These seven stallions will return to the ring on Wednesday and Thursday. Following the relevant class, the stallion selection committee will announce the stallions chosen for the third round viewing, an in-hand presentation.
Afterwards the committee will announce those stallions selected for the 21-day fall performance test. Competing in the ring today were the five- and seven-year-old jumpers. On Wednesday, the following five-year-olds will be evaluated again: cat. 216 Catoki Boy (Catoki x Cassini II x Liostro), cat. 232 Famous H (Diarado x Quasimodo Z x Renville), cat. 286 Fabries (O’Brien x Amethist x Tangelo xx), cat. 312 Fifty-Fifty (Ukato x Clearway x Cor de la Bryère), and cat. 365 Florian P (Zirocco Blue x Cardento x Ahorn). Two seven-year-olds will also return to the ring: cat. 572 I’m Special de Muze (Emerald van ’t Ruytershof x Nabab de Reve x Chin Chin) and cat. 587 Ubama (Mr. Blue x Quidam de Revel x Diableur). Today, the stallion selection committee will view 12 four-year-old jumper stallions as well as one four-year-old dressage stallion and one five-year-old dressage stallion. The in-hand presentation will take place in the arena in front of the KWPN office in Ermelo, with the jumpers starting at 10:30 hours and the dressage horses beginning at 13:00 hours.
