Last weekend he became Swedish champion, but from now on the KWPN-stallion Scandic has retired. He will remain in the meadow of his rider Patrik Kittel who had some great moments with him.

Kittel entered the arena for one last time. “That is my dream,” says Kittel to hippson.se. “Enter the arena for one last time to ride the Kür and then the victory lap on the grass close to the audience.” His dream came true last weekend in Falsterbo. With 77.65% he even became the national Swedish champion. Kittel achieved many great results with the by Ineke Mosman-Rohe bred Watermill Scandic HBC (Solos Carex out of Noraline elite pref prest sport-dr by Amiral). After outstanding points in the Pavo Cup with Remy Bastings, he moved to Annemiek van der Vorm who competed at ZZ-licht level with him. Then Kittel took over his reins. In 2010 they placed fifth in the World Cup finals. He positioned 14th at the London Olympic Games and 17th at the World Equestrian Games in Caen, but the greatest achievements followed at a later age.

In Rotterdam in 2015 he won twice with 81% in the Kür and this year he became fourth in the World Cup finals. The Swedish national championships was a beautiful closure of his impressive career. Scandic will now spend the majority of his time in the grass pasture. “In his favorite paddock,” says Kittel, “I am certain he will enjoy this. Although I think he will be a bit disappointed if the truck leaves and he cannot go with us to the competitions.”
