The KWPN-stallion El Capone (UB 40 out of Vamora elite pref by OO Seven, bred by Paardencentrum De Dalhoeve in Wamel) has been sold. The Danish horse trader and rider Andreas Helgstrand caught sight of the stallion when he was young and now the sale has become reality. The stallion left last week.

Owner Jeanette Gerritsen explains: “Helgstrand has always been crazy about this stallion. We regularly stay in touch and he often asked about El Capone. For us, this was the right time to sell him; if the hope and expectations are good. And they are, because he was doing superb with Mariek van der Putten, they just made their successful debut in the Small Tour. He has been stabled at Glock for three years and he developed wonderfully there. Then Helgstrand asked for him again and we were able to sit around the table. It was simply the right time.” El Capone has always been a remarkable horse. After his approval in 2012 he won the Pavo Cup twice.

In the stallion competition he won both the L and M class and last Stallion Show he treated the audience to a beautiful performance in the ZZ-licht test. In 2015 he was selected for the World Breeding Championships for Young Dressage horses in Verden and last winter was all about the regular sports competition with the national indoor championships ZZ-licht. Last month the only seve-year-old stallion made his Small Tour debut in Beuningen. He triumphed with 72.17%. El Capone will remain available for Dutch breeding. Although now resident in his new stables in Denmark, fresh semen will still be available for the Dutch breeders. Photos: Copyright Dirk Caremans/KWPN
