Diederik van Silfhout won the Dutch title today with the KWPN-stallion Arlando NH N.O.P. (Paddox out of Herlanda ster pref prest by Mytens xx, breeder A.J. van ‘t Klooster from Eemnes). After a third place in the Grand Prix last Friday the performed their best test to date today and the score of 84.825% meant the victory.

“Arlando N.O.P. di very well. Passage, piaffe and extended trot, pirouettes, everything went superbly.” Edward Gal had withdrawn Glock’s Voice (De Niro out of Rohbria stb prest by Rohdiamant, breeder W. & I. I.G.M. van Gisbergen-Sponselee from Hooge Mierde) for the Freestyle. “This seemed the sensible thing to do because Glock’s Voice performed really well Friday and I like to keep it that way. He was injured and we want to keep him fit for the Olympic Games, that is now our top priority. It is a pity that I could not ride here, but this championship is subordinate to Rio; that is truly the most important this year.” Hans Peter Minderhoud won the silver with his Glock’s Johnson TN. N.O.P. (Jazz out of Roxane keur pref prest sport-dr by Flemmingh, breeder P. van de Vleuten from St. Oedenrode), and rode a fantastic Freestyle with amongst others an exquisite passage but a few mistakes in the series. “Johnson did really well. After the Grand Prix the three of us were very close to each other in the rankings and Edward was absent so I went all out. I have ridden this Freestyle at the World Equestrian Games in Caen and after that altered it slightly. The first part went really well, until all the series went the opposite. That cost me a lot of points, but besides this I am very satisfied with the performance of Johnson.”

Adelinde Cornelissen won bronze thanks to her fantastic Freestyle to Music, where she placed second. “Parzival deserves this. He just gets it done,” says a proud Adelinde. Emmelie Scholtens placed just next to the podium with her always impressive  Apache (UB 40 out of Tolanda elite pref by Krack C, breeder A.A. van der Koppel from Wadenoyen), right before Madeleine Witte Vrees and the Vivaldi-son Cennin (out of Vitana V. elite sport-dr by Donnerhall, breeder J.E.J. Cuppen from Someren), that have been appointed reserve combination for the Olympic Games. “The planning has focused on Rio,” tells team coach Johan Rockx. “The Dutch National Championships was an important stepping stone. Now we will build up the training of the horses to achieve an even higher score in Rio.” See the separate new item for the definitive team representing the Netherlands in Rio.
