Jérome Guery and the KWPN-approved stallion Alicante (s.Casall) were the clear frontrunner in both the warming up course as the finals of the FEI Sires of the World in Lanaken. A beautiful victory with many enthusiastic breeders in the audience.

The by Ronald Nowee bred Alicante (Casall out of Texas M s.Indoctro) showed his winner mentality, scope and fast reflexes in the technical 1.50m course in the main arena of Lanaken. In a relatively short period the stallion has developed himself into one of the top horses of Jérome Guery, who is a big fan of the stallion. “I have covered all of my four mares with Alicante. He is a fantastic sport horse and stallion and I have high expectations of him. Here in Lanaken I saw another quality offspring of him, that horse has qualified himself for the final for six-year-old,” says Guery, aiming at Faldo of Vicky van de Poel. “Yesterday Alicante was already jumping great and I was eager to repeat that result. For a stallion to jump this well in front of so many breeders is exactly what you wish for. And I think he accomplished that today!”

Coming week Alicante can be seen in action in Barcelona, where Guery will start him in the Grand Prix and his other horse Grand Cru in the Nations Cup. “This summer Alicante made a good debut in the Nations Cup in Aachen. The first round he jumped incredibly, we had one unlucky fault. The second round he was a bit impressed by the artificial light, but all in all it was a good debut. Alicante is more sensitive than most people think and that’s why I immediately noticed his reaction to the changing circumstances because of the light in Aachen. I expect to have many more great moments with him,” says the Belgian rider.
