Diederik van Silfhout had a good start of 2017. With his future talent KWPN Stallion Hometown (s.Apache), he won the last round of the Isah Stallion Competition in the L Class. Guardian S, nowadays partly owned by Anky van Grunsven won the M Class, and Foundation (s.United) won his first competition at Z level.

It was a close-finish between Hometown (Apache out of Torose V ster by Ferro, breeder J.A.G. Bouwmeester from Wilp) and the Gelder KWPN-stallion Henkie (Alexandro P out of Beaujamanda ster by Upperville, bred by Gait Hekkert from Wijhe) ridden by Adelinde Cornelissen. The latter won the show at the De Peelbergen but now had to give in only one point to Diederik van Silfhout with Hometown. Head judge Christa Larmoyeur spoke highly about both stallions: “We really enjoyed ourselves today. Hometown shows enormous potential and is very well presented. Diederik showed him with lots of self-carraige, control and ease.” Hometown got 9,5’s for both his canter and the harmony.

Exciting

For the second time, Kirsten Brouwer and the KWPN-stallion Guardian S were the winners in the M Class. They got a monster-score of 94 points, which put them in front of the also very talented GLOCK’s Toto jr. (Totilas uit Desperada van Desperados, fokker Schmidt uit Naumburg), who got an evenly incredible 92 points. The M class was exciting from the first to the last starter. GLOCK’s Toto Jr. was the first to enter the arena and Marieke van der Putten rode him extremely well. “This pair shows a very nice outline and proved to be in topform today. His trot is incredible with super capability to collect and extend. His walk is almost perfect and also for the harmony we gave him a 9,5”, said head-judge Christa Larmoyeur. Last one in, the KWPN-stallion Guardian S, a son of Bodyguard Moorland (out of Amadin S elite IBOP-dres sport-dres pref by Trento B, bred by Stal van de Sande from Liempde) is recently partly sold to Anky van Grunsven and Sjef Janssen. The former Olympic Champion trains the stallion during the week, and Kirsten Brouwer rides the stallion twice a week and during competitions. This works really well, since he received a score of 94. “Guardian’s trot is very impressive with a huge front and ots of expression. We see a super combination of activity and relaxation. Therefore we gave him a 9,5 for his trot, but also for his canter, the harmony and his talent.” With two such quality stallions, the final, held at Friday february 3th at the Brabanthallen in ‘s-Hertogenbosch will be very excititing for sure! Winner of the Z-class was the United-son Foundation (out of Wiana ster pref by Jazz, breeders J.A. and B. Naber from Vredenheim). Ridden by newcomer in the stallion competition Franka Loos, he showed lots of progression. This was awarded with 84 points. “His performance is honest with nice carriage. His trot has lot of rhythm and bend. His walk is clear with a nice overtrack and he showed beautiful changes in canter”, the judges said. Wynton-son Four Legends KS, who won the first two legs of the competition, got second place now with 82 points.
