Last Saturday, the first round viewing for the harness horses took place at the National Equestrian Centre in Ermelo. Out of the 46 inspected stallions, 14 are accepted for the second round viewing that will take place during the KWPN Stallion Show in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Twelve other stallions were declared ster.

Despite of the bad weather circumstances, lots of harness horse enthusiasts found their way to Ermelo. The Stallion Selection Committee consists of Chair Johan Hamminga, Lammert Tel and Gert Jan Hermanussen. Joop van Wessel had his debut as new inspector for the harness horses. Delviro HBC had two sons send through to the second round. So had Bocellie, of which one of them is a full hackney Stallion. And keur-stallion Patijn also got two sons through. The rest of the stallions are by Manno, Unieko, Atleet, Eebert, Cizandro and the hackney-stallions Avion Pierre and Wentworth Ebony. Johan Hamminga: “This year, we found the quality satisfactory. We did not see any extra striking stallions. But we also did not see any bad ones. We also used the bonus point system again, where stallions got, next to their marks for conformation and movement, a bonus point for an interesting pedigree that can help reduce inbreeding. Four stallions were rewarded those bonus points.” Accepted for the second round viewing are:
