The KWPN Stallion Show knew a good start today. An interesting group of 31 jumper stallions could be accepted for performance testing after the second and third round viewing.

The Stallion Selection Committee saw a total of 85 stallions in the ring. They were descendants of proven sires and foreign and young stallions as well. That can also be said about the group of stallions that is invited for the performance test. Both keur-stallion Verdi and top-stallion Kannan got three sons through to the test. Next to that, young stallions like Flying Dream, Entertainer and Farfan M presented interesting sons successfully. “We saw a nice group of stallions in the ring that could convince in both the first as the second round viewing. Most of them met the requirements we ask for conformation and lineage and it will be a pleasure to try them out under saddle in the performance test”, said Chair Cor Loeffen. “Besides that, there were some stallions that did obviously better in this round then in Ermelo, or the other way around. Considering that, we did see quite some inconsistency in free jumping, but what was also striking was the fact that the stallions were presented in a very natural manner, something we think is a good development. In terms of lineage we could accept several very interesting stallions. We accepted stallions from top sires like Baloubet du Rouet and Big Star, and several stallions with very nice pedigrees or super dams. Also we accepted stallions from interesting foreign lines, something that will benefit blood distribution. The crop of today gives lots of confidence for the coming performance tests. Hopefully we can add some interesting stallions tomorrow.”

Four for the championship round

Out of the 85 stallions in the second round viewing 34 were invited for the third round viewing and 31 for performance testing. Four of these stallions are invited for the championship round, that will take place tomorrow. We expect here the scopy Jonkheer de Span (Farfan M out of Celebration Z by Calvin Z, b/rp H.J.M. Span from Zevenaar) that jumped with lots of reflexes and technique. This stallion will be sold in the KWPN Select sale. The very complete, quick and careful Kannan-son Juventus V G (out of  Duzella elite IBOP-spr by Indoctro, breeder Jan van Gestel from Hilvarenbeek) registered with VDL Stud is the second stallion in the Championship ring, accompanied by the eager, quick and scopy Joyride (Verdi out of Rachel stb pref prest by Heartbreaker, breeder Gerrit Spronk from ’s Heerenbroek) registered by Egbert Schep and Teus van den Brink. The fourth stallion is the impressive jumper Jordan (Zapatero out of Elia elite EPTM-spr d-oc by Mermus R, breeder H.G.J. Kroeze from Denekamp) again registered with the VDL Stud. Watch all the videos of the stallions and lots more on kwpn.tv. Tomorrow the last jumper stallions will come for their second round viewing. The championship round will take place around 13.40 CET.
