To say goodbye at the high point of their career, that was the goal of Jur Vrieling and the KWPN Stallion Arezzo VDL. With a well-deserved Grand Prix win they succeeded. “Arezzo always gives his all and it is really nice that he went so well this night. I will miss him”, reflected Jur Vrieling.

In the 1.50m Grand Prix seven super jumpers came at the start. With a long impressive track record, the KWPN Stallion Arezzo VDL (Chin Chin out of Sarjolijn ster prest by Heartbreaker, breeder H. Mulder from Blankenham) was one of the biggest names  on the starting order. Only an hour before this class he was awarded the coveted keur-predicate, with which his impressive achievements in breeding were emphazised. Under the saddle of Jur Vrieling, the powerful eager son of Chin Chin pulled out all the stops and finished the evening in style. “Arezzo VDL really showed himself tonight like we are used from him. When it counts, he is there! He gives his all and it its really nice to say goodbye this way”, says Jur Vrieling, who has traveled to the international show at Treffen straight after the KWPN Stallion Show. “I had watched the jump-off of Michel Hendrix and Don Diablo and that was really a good, quick ride. It was certainly not a sure win. I turned Arezzo very short towards the double and he really tried his heart out. Super that we were just that faster. Arezzo is a very popular stallion and has proven himself time after time in sport. The times that i did not finish in the Top 3 can be easily counted. He was always placed, I will really miss him. He has deserved a stable next to Bubalu, another stallion that has brought me so much as a rider.”

Very promising nine-year-olds

The KWPN approved Don Diablo HX (Vittorio out of Zolaniki keur sport-spr by Calvados, breeder/ reg.p Stal Hendrix from Kessel) is hardly nine years old but showed a lot of quality this Grand Prix class. With Michel Hendrix the workwilling stallion was really quick in the jump-off, every time very quick in the reflexes and far away from the wood. In third finished the successful Carrera (Larino out of  Ehrentender ster pref prest by Contender, breeder Arend Florijn from Geesteren) with Willem Greve. He easily jumped two clear rounds. Also the nine-year-old Durango VDL (Zirocco Blue VDL out of Narona ster pref prest by Lux, breeder N.H.G. Broeders from Hooge Zwaluwe) did good business in the Grand Prix. Ridden by Lennard de Boer the careful jumper went round convincingly. Just a light touch of the last fence brought him in fourth place.
