ERMELO - In exactly 100 days, the Longines FEI/WBFSH World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses starts at the National Equestrian Centre in Ermelo. Coming edition is the second to be organised in The Netherlands. Following the phenomenal success in 2016, the organisation looks forward to the second edition of the World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses in Ermelo. Thursday August 3rd, the first competitor will enter the arena.

Extra competitors
The programme has been revised to give room to more competitors than in 2016. This was necessary given the great international interest to participate in the event. This year, the qualifying rounds of the five- and six-year-old horses are split up over two days to allow for additional combinations. Saturday the seven-year-old finalists battle for the prestigious medals and the Sunday is closed with a thrilling final of five- and six-year-old horses.

Class for former contestants
The organisation has the intent to add a class for former competitors to the programme. Horses of eight years and older that previously participated in the World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses can then make another appearance in this event’s arena and compete in the international class. More information about this will follow soon. Another class on the programme you don’t want to miss is the Stallions of the Year. Last year this Prix St. George class featured many international contestants.

Second edition EDS
The final of the seven-year-old dressage talents is followed by the Excellent Dressage Sales, in which high quality dressage horses and foals go under the hammer. The EDS-team consists of Nico Witte, Joop van Uytert, Tim Coomans and Joep Schellekens.

Record number of visitors
Last year a record number of visitors attended the World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses, two weeks prior to the start of the event all the numbered seatings were sold out. It is now possible to order entrance tickets (numbered seatings) for the 2017 FEI World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses via www.ermeloyh.com. For KWPN- and KNHS-members a discount applies in the presale.
