Today the program of the Longines FEI/WBFSH World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses continued with the second qualification for the five-year-olds. The in Hannover registered Don Martillo, son by the KWPN-bred Don Juan de Hus (s.Jazz), claimed the victory yesterday and was not outbested today. The KWPN-stallion Henkie (s.Alexandro P) dropped to the tenth position, Connaisseur-daughter Haute Couture ended up in the 12th place, just enough for a starting place in the finals. Habibi DVB was the best performing KWPN-bred of the second round and placed 20th.

Habibi DVB, a son of Don Shufro out of the elite mare Davina DVB (s.Johnson), moves in a nice uphill frame and is blessed with a strong hind leg, a heritage from his exceptional well-tested dam. “He tripped at the entrance, which caused a loss of focus. Besides that, it was a good test,” says Mara de Vries. Trainer and breeder Coby van Baalen continues: “Habibi DVB is a very good horse, the points for the walk were the lowest today. It is still a snapshot of the moment with these young horses.” The trot received an 8.3, the walk a 6.8, the canter an 8.6, submission an 8.5 and perspective a 7.8, which led the chestnut gelding to a 20th position.

Hannelinde GLN

Dream Boy-daughter Hannelinde GLN showed an eager test with the Spanish Ainhoa Prada Cortiz, the ster mare moves with lots of suppleness and the work seems to come easy to her. With an 8.8 for the trot, a 7.2 for the walk, a 7.7 for the canter, a 7.8 for the submission and an 8.2 for the perspective, adding up a total of 7.94 points, the mare is not placed for the finals with a 23rd position. “I am not completely satisfied,” says Ainhoa Prada Cortiz, after the test. “She can do much better. Tomorrow I will do my best in the small finals, because I am eager to start in the finals.” G.A.E.M. van der Linden from Vlierden bred the ster mare out of elite mare Adessa (s.Sunny Boy).

Hummer

Representing the Russian flag, Egveny Sharanogovich started the Westpoint-son Kartsevo Hummer (out of Winder ster by Farrington, bred by B.P. Hartman-Van Tilborgh from Sprang-Cappele). The KWPN-stallion is presented in a bold and forward manner in the trot. In the canter, the stallion showed some resistance in the single flying change, that went long enough to hinder the next figure, the extended trot. As a result, the submission received a 6. On the last line, the stallion shows once again why his trot is rewarded with an 8.5. The walk got a 7, the canter a 7.3 and perspective a 7.2. In total: 7.2 and a 33rd position.
