After a fall from employee Lennard de Boer, Marcel de Boer did not think for a moment. With borrowed clothes he rode all Lennard’s stallions. In the Z class that led to a beautiful victory with Global Express.

With the jacket of Henk Frederiks, the breeches of Albert Zoer, the tie and boots of Lennard and an old hat pulled out of the trunk, Marcel de Boer appeared at the start with the stallions Heineken VK VDL (M class), Grand Slam VDL and Global Express. In the warm-up arena, Lennard de Boer fell very unfortunate during the L class and sustained a broken collarbone. "At the First Aid Lennard grabbed me by the arm when it became clear that I was going to ride 'his' stallions. You need to win! That was the task he send me off with", laughs Marcel. With Global Express (Orient Express out of Dame Ricard from Laudanum xx, breeder Haras de la Gisloterie) I succeeded, and that was a victory that was already on the wishlist. "We had hoped in advance that Global would win here, because we wanted to devote the honorary round to the stallion owner Hein Peeters. Global Express stood at stud at his place and unfortunately he is no longer among us. He had a special thing with the ‘Radetsky March’ that is played in the lap of honor, so extra nice that it went like this", says Marcel de Boer, who was the first of five participants to start the jump-off.

A lot of power

"At home I have jumped Global once but never in a course. I also understand that Lennard does not like someone else to ride him, because what a horse! I have not felt the end of his ability at all. I did not want to take all the risks but could easily turn him very short, and luckily that was good enough for the win. The whole season I only jumped a BB course once, so for me it was also quite a switch. Luckily I can come home with this result! "The KWPN-approved stallion Gerardus (Carambole out of Ruata ster pref prest by Iroko, breeder: A.J. Veenhoven) finished in a nice second place. He jumped with great dedication and power under Gerbert te Koppele. They were just a bit faster than Siebe Kramer with Apower (A'Lee Spring Power out of Oriane by Lux, breeder Hermann Vogt), who lost a bit of time in a tight turn. The leader in the standings, Graziano (Baltic VDL from Rienaldine stb by Great Pleasure, breeders Henk and Andreas Barenkamp) went to fifth place under Micky Morssinkhof with a safe clear round.
