Beezie Madden managed to hold on to the lead that she took on the first day of the World Cup finals with the KWPN approved stallion Breitling LS (s.Quintero). With this she won the World Cup for the second time in her career and referred compatriot Devin Ryan to the second position with the nine-year old Eddie Blue (s.Zirocco Blue VDL).

The World Cup final in Paris was one in which nothing could be taken for granted. Certainly not for  Beezie Madden with Breitling LS (Quintero out of Armonia la Silla by Acord II, breeder La Silla from Nuevo Leon) who made it quite exciting in the decisive second round of the final day. But the four faults she got did not make any difference for the final standings and the American rider took the win in the World Cup finals, five years after she put this final piece of the indoor season into her name with Simon (s.Mr.Blue), who came, just like Breitling LS, before they were sold, out of the stables of van Jeroen Dubbeldam, Stal De Sjiem.

Without any jumping mistakes, Devin Ryan took second place with the youngest horse in this final, the nine-year-old Eddie Blue. (Stb name Ed Hardy, Zirocco Blue VDL out of Silvana keur prest van Marlon, breeder J. Honcoop from Chaam). In the class on Friday, the pair had one time penalty, which brought them to a total of six faults. Madden kept her loss on four. An absolute top result, which put the both of them in the spotlight for the World Equestrian Games in Tyron, later this year.

Also in the top-10 finished Carlos Enrique Lopez with the much discussed Padinus-son Admara (out of Somara ster prest by Murano, breeder A. van Nuland from Nistelrode). With five and two faults in the two rounds on the final day, they did not have all the luck on their side. The same could be said for Harrie Smolders, the only Dutchman in this final, who rode the KWPN-recognized stallion Emerald van ’t Ruytershof (Diamant de Semilly out of Carthina Z by Carthago, breeder Bert van den Branden from Sint-Niklaas). They finished their very succesful indoor season with a disappointing 17th place.
