From August 10th through 18, the KWPN Championships take place at the National Equestrian Centre in Ermelo. The KWPN Championships form the podium of honor of the KWPN breeding, a week filled with top-sport and top-breeding!

This year, the championships will start in Friday august 10th with the offspring inspection of the jumper-, dressage- and Gelder type foals. Last year, the offspring inspection was organized during the Championship days for the first time, and that proved to be a success. The foals showed themselves optimally on the sand surface of the main arena.

A day later, on Saturday August 11th, the Harness Horse Festival of the Year is in the agenda of all harness horse lovers. First of all, the National Harness Horse Day is the final of the mare inspection season. Other highlights include the classes for Mares in Harness, the KWPN Championship Harness Horses ridden by juniors, the Manno Trophy, the Renovo Award, the National Harness Horse Foal Auction, the elections Harness Horse Breeder of the Year and Harness Horse of the Year and of course the Final of the Nationals, in which will be ridden for the title Top Sport Mare of the Year and the Greet Bergstra Bokaal.

Sport Classes

Just like last year, all championships - with the exception of the KWPN Championship for young eventing horses and the loose jumping - will take place in the main arena of the National Equestrian Center where the magnificent stands of the World Young Dressage Horses still stand. Monday, August 13, is completely dominated by the Blom Cup. The 5-, 6- and 7-year-old jumping horses compete in the first part of the semi-finals. On Tuesday, August 14, the Blom Cup continues with the second part of the semi-finals and the semifinal for the four-year-old jumping horses. Wednesday, August 15 is entirely dedicated to the talented young 4-, 5- and 6-year-old dressage horses who compete for a place in the finals for the Pavo Cup which takes place on Saturday August 18th. The finals for the Blom Cup are on Thursday, August 16 for the 4- to 7-year-old jumping horses. The KWPN Championship for 5-year-old event horses is also ridden this day and the very first edition of the Young Jumping Foal Sale takes place. You wish to participate in one of the young horse classes? The entries are open.

Inspection Championships

Friday August 17th is the final day of the inspection season. Compared to last year, this day is unchanged with the National Mare Championships, National Foal Championships for the Equimax Foal trophy for jumping, dressage and Gelder foals and tributes for the Breeder of the Year for both dressage and jumping. The very best mares and foals present themselves in the Main Arena, the loose jumping for the three-year-old jumper mares takes place in the Willem-Alexanderhal. Summed-up: in a beautiful entourage you will enjoy the crème de la crème of KWPN breeding!

The KWPN Championships have a very varied program and offer the visitor a peek into the KWPN kitchen with the most beautiful foals, impressive harness horses, the best mares and the top talents in dressage and showjumping. Access to the event is free. The parking fee is 6 euros per day per car.
