Today the KWPN Championships revolved around the second round of the Blom Cup, for four-, five-, six- and seven-year-old show jumpers. 

Four KWPN-approved stallions to final 7-year-olds

After the second round today, the best 20 seven-year-old horses were selected for the final, amongst them are four KWPN-approved stallions. Monique van den Broek once again steered her KWPN-approved stallion Gullit HBC (Cantos out of C’est la Vie keur ibop-spr sport-spr by Namelus R, bred by Hans de Roover) to a clear result, securing them a fourth place both today and in the overall intermediate rankings. Under his new rider Alex Gill, the KWPN-approved Grand Slam VDL (Cardento out of Wonder A.S. by Heartbreaker, bred by F. Kenis) did not touch a pole and he is also expected back for the final on Thursday. Also on the starting list for the final are the KWPN-approved stallions Gringo (Catoki out of D.Zarah R 7 ster EPTM-spr prok by Tolan R, bred by Stal Roelofs in Den Ham) with Boy-Adrian van Gelderen and Grandorado TN (Eldorado van de Zeshoek ouf of Charmieque elite IBOP-spr EPTM-spr sport-spr prok by Carolus II, bred by D.J. Verhoeven and M. Rietberg) with Willem Greve. 

Hoselinde (s.Campbell VDL) wins second leg six-year-olds

The six-year-old were presented with two phases course in the second leg of the Blom Cup. The Cambpell VDL-daughter Hoselinde (sport-spr out of Roselinde ster prest by Zeus, bred by Maatschap van Esch) is in the lead with Steven Veldhuis. Don Willemsen and Hercules (Zirocco Blue VDL out of Voque ster PROK by Guidam, bred by G. Willemsen of Den Ham) came in second, while Bert-Jan Zuidema and the by Johan Heins bred Hymabalia (Indoctro out of Mabalia MW prest by Starsky de Brix) placed third. Two KWPN-approved stallions owned by Team Nijhof placed themselves for the finals: Highway M TN (Eldorado van de Zeshoek out of Zelana V prok by Chellano Z, bred by Peter Verdellen of Horst) and Hernandez TN (Kannan out of Bea-Leva elite IBOP-spr sport-spr PROK by Numero Uno, bred by Willem Dekker), both ridden by Zoï Snels. 

 

Etoulon VDL-son Inferno in the lead of five-year-olds 

Steven Veldhuis proved to be invincible again. After his victory in the six-year-old class, he also grabbed the lead with the five-year-old Etoulon VDL-offspring Inferno. Steven Veldhuis went all out with his Inferno (out of Bryolieta T ster by Indoctro, bred by M. Terpstra of Aalzum) owned by VDL Stud and R. Rikkert. Thomas Mertens had to settle in second place with Icarus V (Biscayo out of Carentina by Carentino, bred by M. Verschoor of Haarle), while Mylord Lady (Mylord Carthago out of Acord Lady stb-ext prok by Casco, bred by A. Geessink of Groenlo) and Sophie Hinners finished third. 
Amongst the 30 finalist, we see two KWPN-approved stallions: Ipsthar (Denzel van t Meulenhof out of Vestha stb prest by Farmer, bred by J. Moerings of Roosendaal) under Bas Moerings and Irvington VDL (Dallas out of Tanagra M ster prest by Quick Star, bred by J.W.M. Veltmaat of Lemelerveld) ridden by Alex Chitty. Last year’s Blom Cup winner, Idagonda ster prok (Zirocco Blue VDL out of Degonda ster EPTM-spr prok by Corland, bred by Frans Wetemans of Heythuysen) and Nicole Mestrom, can defend her title on Thursday. 

Jamboree TN seizes win semi-final Blom Cup four-year-olds

In the by Loewie Joppen and Arnold Kootstra judged sem-final today, three KWPN-approved stallions ranked amongst the top-5. In the lead is the Vigo d’Arsouilles-son Jamboree TN (pictured) with Zoï Snels. Scoring an 8.1 for jumping and 8.3 for his rideability, the KWPN-approved stallion Jamboree TN (out of Belle Amie II S elite EPTM-spr sport-spr prok by Carolus II, bred by Family Van Straaten) of Team Nijhof and Paul Leijser was the most complete horse in this semi-final. The second place was shared by J.Coutinho (ex.Just Chestnut, Harley VDL out of Real Chessnut ster by Goodtimes, bred by M.E. Bosman van de Most of Slagharen) under Rink-Jan Dijkstra and the KWPN-approved stallion Jay Star (Big Star out of Earl Grey elite IBOP-spr sport-spr PROK by Cardento, bred by Alexandra van der Peijl) under Guido Schoemaker, that both received an 8.2 for jumping and an 8.0 for rideability.
