Shortened Performance Trial
Stallion keepers, breeders and others in the horse industry recently held meetings to discuss the current format of the performance test. The performance test was also on the agenda at the recent breeders meetings, in which members exchanged thoughts on various breeding-related matters. As a result of these discussions, the Breeding Council for Riding Horses recommended that the KWPN Board of Directors conduct a trial this spring with respect to the duration of the performance test for riding horse stallions. The trial will reduce the spring performance test from 70 days to 50 days. The results of the breeders meetings as well as the outcomes of the 50-day trial evaluation will be analyzed and discussed in the Breeding Council. Over the course of this year, recommendations will be issued regarding the definitive duration of future performance tests.
The coming performance test will begin later than in years past so that the stallions may be trained at home for a longer period.
