KWPN-Recognized Stallion Cardento Deceased
The KWPN-recognized stallion Cardento has passed away at age 27. The Olympic stallion made a positive contribution to the breeding industry.
As of the end of last year, 1,230 Cardento offspring have been registered with the KWPN. He boasts two KWPN-approved sons: Dakar VDL (ds.Nimmerdor) and Grand Slam VDL (ds.Heartbreaker). Carrera VDL, who like his sire Cardento is a KWPN-recognized stallion, competed at the highest level under Jur Vrieling. In addition, three KWPN-approved stallions are out of a dam by Cardento.
Bred in Holstein, Cardento was a valuable asset to the Swedish team for years under Peter Eriksson. Their achievements include contributing to the team silver victory at the Athens Olympics, the World Equestrian Games at Jerez de Frontera and the European Championships in Arnhem. In 2005, the KWPN granted the Capitol I son recognized status based on his achievements in the sport and promising results as a breeding stallion. In the elite sport, Cardento is represented by offspring including Damascus, Wieminka B, Bartender, Bardolino, Beezie, Dolinn, Dubai and Estelle.
