The second KWPN Online Foal Auction is closed! For 10,000 euros, GLOCK's Toto Jr. daughter Oliva was the highest seller this auction. A total of 34 foals went under the digital hammer.

Many foreigners took their chance during this second online foal auction. Four foals are leaving for Ireland, three for Belgium and two for Germany. Foals also went to Spain, Russia, Jordan and Portugal.

Highest average price

The average price of this edition is higher than the previous one with 4,100 euros. Two thirds of the foals have actually been sold and more than half of them go abroad. In addition to Oliva who's changed ownership for 10,000 euros,  a good bid went to Otis (s.Fontaine TN) with 9,500 euros, 9,000 euros were paid for Van Gogh daughter Otravola, 7,500 euros for Harley VDL daughter O-Shavola, 6,500 euros for Ocintha Chin (by Glasgow-W van het Merelsnest), 5,500 euros for Olianca (by Van Gogh) and for 5,000 euros, Cantona TN daughter Odylia-Sinaa changed hands."One used to sell foals from the field"

Mr. Kessels, breeder of Otravola (by Van Gogh) and O-Shavola (by Harley VDL) was very pleased, they were sold for 9,000 and 7,500 euros respectively. Both foals are leaving for Ireland. “This was the first time that we offered foals via an online auction and we are more than satisfied with the result. All evening we watched the auction, everything was very easy to follow. The foals with the more interesting pedigrees were sold at very decent prices, which gives a good chance that the higher prices will also make breeders offer the more interesting foals to the auction. ”In addition to these two foals, he has bred three more foals this year. “You used to sell foals at home, then the potential buyers just came to you. This seems to be something of the past, if you keep them at home you hardly sell them. Last week I spoke to some Belgians and they said there are auctions there twice a week. Why would they still go to the breeders to view foals? In addition to this online foal auction, I sold one foal at the Tubbergen auction and two were selected for the Limburg Foal Auction. A physical auction is always much more work. You have the selection days, the photo and video day and the auction itself. This takes a lot of energy. This online foal auction suited me very well for these two foals. The mother of the Harley VDL always gives so much milk that the foals are a bit overfed when they are young, and  therefore less noticeable. Since the Harley VDL has shed her foal coat, she has developed incredibly positively and she has really grown on me. An online auction is ideal for such foals. In addition, the convenience that you only have to leave home once. If it would suit one of my foals of next year, I will certainly participate again."
