In these strange times when everything is different, Excellent Dressage Sales 2020 has also changed, but it just went well outside. The last-minute update to an online edition was more than worth it.

Many buyers from home and abroad bid on the collection above expectations. Auction highlight Excellent Black (Painted Black x Donnerhall) takes the crown and goes to Scotland for an amount of € 370,000 and the total turnover was almost 2.2 million euros.

Effective format
The organization says to be lucky that many horses had already been viewed before the corona crisis. But even after that time, the worldwide interest appeared to continue for young to highly trained horses. Despite the lack of the warm atmosphere of the live auctions in recent years, the online auction format proved to be very effective in linking talented horses to new riders and aspirant breeders.

Auction topper Excellent Black
Auction highlight Excellent Black has good international Grand Prix scores on his name, which made him a popular stallion before the start of the auction. There was therefore a lot of bidding on the black pearl, which eventually leaves for Scotland.

Tons of work
Excellent Black was not the only horse that appealed, Fellini (by Ampère) was popular. Several interested parties saw that this beautiful gelding has everything for top sports, which raised the amount to € 150,000. Fellini goes to India. Black Diamond (Gribaldi x Ro-Lex) raised the same amount as Fellini. The ease with which this powerful gelding shows the exercises of the Big Tour meant that several buyers were seriously interested. The KWPN approved stallion Knock-Out also changed ownership this evening. The stallion goes to Canada and becomes a stable mate of the well-known stallion Winton. With an amount of € 160,000, he was also one of the favourites.

Young talent was recognized
Not only for the experienced horses, but also for young talent, there was a buying audience 'present' during the EDS online auction. The very talented four-year-old Lucky (by For Gribaldi) changed owners for € 70,000, where his father did for € 170,000 during the EDS auction last year. KWPN selected stallions Macaron and Miljonair yielded amounts of € 49,000 and € 42,000 respectively and the seven-year-old Fidelio (by Fürst Romancier) was also loved by the buyers. After an exciting battle, the black stallion was sold for € 60,000.
