Last week, an IBOP for dressage mares is organized under strict protocols at the KWPN center in Ermelo: one of the first activities after the coronavirus outbreak. It was good to see that registrants, supervisors and employees are following up the measures.

The guidelines of the RIVM could properly be followed, among other things, by a wide timetable and by limiting the number of people that are allowed to enter per horse with a maximum of two owners and two escorts. There was no publicpresent during the IBOP. In total, five mares were offered for the test, four managed to pass with at least 75 points.

The highest points went to the Habanna-daughter Mayflower (out of Galant ster IBOP-dres sport-dres PROK by Alexandro P) from breeder Dressuurstal Rutten. She was the only one to pass with 80 points in total, including an 8.5 for the walk and ride and machinability. Inspector Floor Dröge, who was in charge of the assessment together with Henk Dirksen, explains about this mare: “We saw a just three-year-old mare who was very well guided by the rider. The step is her best course, in which she is resolute and active from the first step, with good technique and space. She also shows a good technique and action in the trot and she is a mare with a good posture by nature. At the canter she has more than enough scope and certainly take-off, but she could let it go a bit looser and connect more. ”

Three mares were presented for studbook admission, each of which took place immediately after each group to ensure that registered and escorts were kept on site for as short a time as possible. Because of the coronacrisis, there is decided that mares can not only be declared ster, but also (provisionally) certified during the IBOPs in 2020. Two of the three mares offered could therefore be declared immediately. Two mares that were already provisionally declared last year and now passed the IBOP, were even declared elite today.

Tomorrow, June 3, and Wednesday June 24 there will be dressage IBOP’s again in Ermelo. IBOPs are organized for jumping mares on Friday 12, 19 and 26 June. Of course, these are also not open to the public.
