“The lifetime achievement award Breeder of the Year 2020 in the direction of dressage was this year bestowed upon Jan Streppel. Jan put his breeding on the map with horses such as Governor and TC Athene, this coming year he may bear the title Breeder of the Year.

Andries van Daalen, chairman of the General Board, traveled to the Gelder village Wilp to surprise Jan and his wife Miny Streppel with the title. The breeders live in the family home of Jan, where they once combined cattle and breeding of horses. “I am at a loss for words”, says Jan visibly overcome by emotion. “I think it’s wonderful. I did this together with the breeders and owners of my horses and I want to thank everyone involved.”

Jan is highly successful in breeding with this Jazz-daughters Orleans and Toulouse and their offspring. These mares are full sisters of the Olympic horse Parzival. Out of Orleans, Jan bred the stallion Governor, a son of Totilas. He was the vice-champion of the KWPN Stalion Show, was approved and won two silver medals at the World Breeding Dressage Championships with Adelinde Cornelossen. His half-brother TC Athene (by United) won twelve medals at the European Championships for Young Riders and U25 Grand Prix, including six gold ones. Toulouse produced six elite mares and two Big Tour-horses, including Genua TC (by Charmeur).
