Three Gelder stallions made their appearance in the second-round viewing. They descended from Elton, Imposant and Recruut. All three stallions were appointed to the performance test. In this breeding direction no premiums were awarded.

The first stallion was the Elton-son Newman. This powerhouse was bred by the Hekkert family from Wijhe and is registered to J.H.F.M. Grijzenhout from Muiderberg and S. Ruiters from Berlicum. Dam Beaujamanda is a ster mare of Upperville. We know her as the dam to the Gelder stallion Henkie (by Alexandro P) and this damline also produced the approved stallion Jupiler S. Marloes van der Velde commented on behalf of the stallion committee: “A stallion that could have a been more long-lined but shows a lot of power and elasticity. His originates from a damline filled with predicates and has a low degree of relatedness.”

First crop Imposant
The Imposant EM-son Nicolaas EM was bred by Mariska Toet from Darp out of the elite mare Gerona (by Alexandro P), that earned the sports predicate in harness. He descends from the renown damline of previous Breeder of the Year Jan Vonk. Van der Velden: “Nicolaas EM is one of the first offspring of Imposant. He immediately catches the eye with his beautiful front and he has a good length in the back. The croupe could be a tad longer, but he shows a good use of his hind leg and a nice jump.”

White Head
Perhaps the stallion that stood out the most, both in his pedigree and in his looks, is the third appointed stallion. The seven-year-old James.R, that competes in sport under the name White Head. The chestnut that is blessed with significant white markings is a son of the in 1975 born and in 2005 deceased stallion Recruut. He was bred by C.H. Rasenberg from Raamsdonkveer and is registered to Ido Jacobs in Vragender. His dam E.Karin R is a ster mare by Elegant and a granddaughter of the famous Karin (by Apollo) that produced a long list of sport horses. Van der Velden: “James R is already classified at the 1.30m level and assessed by us in two courses. He has a functional trot and good canter. He demonstrates a good mentality in jumping and has lots of technique. He also has a very low degree of kinship.
