The second observation moment for five- and seven-year-old dressage horses for the 'FEI/WBFSH World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses' was held yesterday in Ermelo. This year's event will be held in Verden from August 25 until August 29.

The selection committee for the five- and seven-year-olds consists of Monique Peutz, Floor Dröge and Johan Rockx. "We had fantastic weather, so we could judge the performances under perfect conditions. We had a very big group of five-year-olds with some remarkable horses. For the five-year-olds we have a nice group to start their first training. With the five-year-olds there is a wider selection, because these horses have not yet been able to select themselves through the Pavo Cup. We will first train with each other and select the horses further from there," says Floor Dröge.

"In the seven-year-old competition, there were a number of cancellations and the group was less big. With a seven-year-old dressage horse, it's not only about the quality of the movement but also the technical aspect of the test. A lot is asked of the horses already and we like to take the horses with us to further select them in the coming training sessions," says Floor Dröge.

The announcement of those selected will be made this week.
