Sander and Erik Daniëls Breeders of the Year 2020
Last year, the title Breeder of the Year could not be awarded due to the cancellation of the National Harness Horse Day. Last weekend was the moment to put a breeder in the spotlight because of his or her breeding successes. In this case, two breeders were honoured. Together, they have bred 125 harness horses.
There was considerable support for this award, as the protocol states; their nomination have been discussed before. But today it happened and Sander Daniëls and his son Erik from Wageningen were honoured as Breeders of the Year. This joint title emphasises the fact that Sander and his son Erik do harness horse breeding together, even though they each have their own horses. The committee also sees it as a motivation for younger breeders. Their numerous inspection successes at both regional and national level underlie this title. Five times they bred a horse that became a national champion, three times a foal, once a two-year-old and once a three-year-old. Five of their breeding products obtained more than 40 victory points in the sport and three of them are competing in the international driving. They largely breed with the well-known Ereda line from which Sander bought his first mare in 1987 from the Korevaar family.
Two stallions
In the past Sander and Erik also bred the stallion Hilbert by Proloog out of this line and in 2000 they bred stallion Pronk juweel by Jonker, also out of this line.
