In the studio Cor Loeffen and Henk Dirksen just took the time to reflect on the successful second-round viewing, in which 50 stallions were invited to the performance test.

Senior inspector Henk Dirksen praises the solid damlines of the appointed stallions and is happy with high total of 50 jumper stallions. “From the Breeding Council we received a guideline and although we certainly did not start counting, it is nice to observe we met that guideline exactly. This is a good starting point for the next performance test. The stallions can be delivered this spring, coming autumn or next spring and of course, we hope to see them all there.”

As chairman, Cor Loeffen, also looks back in a positive manner. “Overall, we saw a group of convincing stallions today. There were more complete stallions compared to yesterday, that’s why we invited four stallions to the premium round. By complete we mean a stallion with a good, long lined, and athletic conformation, that possesses a good pedigree with lots of sport in the damline and showed a good performance in jumping. We looked for light-footedness, intelligence, overview, and athletic ability. And of course, the manner of jumping. It is without a doubt an interesting group of stallions we selected for the performance test, and we are looking forward to their developments under the saddle. Obviously, we hope that all fifty of them convince us once again in the performance test, but experience has taught us there is a difference between free jumping and jumping under saddle. Nevertheless, these days have confirmed that free jumping still is a valuable selection tool. Provided that the stallions are prepared in an honest way, and we do not let them jump too high. Fortunately, the first was the case for the majority of the stallions and that gives us confidence for the performance test.
