The stallion selection committee jumping has nominated AS Bombay, Ermitage Kalone, Feromas van Beek Z, Luigi d’Eclipse and Milton Z for recognition. The stallion selection committee dressage nominated Johnny Depp. The General Board has formalised these nominations. 

The stallions AS Bombay, Feromas van Beek Z, Luigi d’Eclipse and Milton Z are nominated because of their performances in the international jumping sport. 

Broadening selection regulations

As of last year, the selection regulations of the dressage and jumper stallions were expanded with regards to the possibilities to recognize a well-performing stallion in an earlier stage. A seven- or eight-year-old jumper stallions cam qualify for recognition when he has placed three times at an international competition in a minimum height of 1.40m (seven-year-olds) or 1.45m (eight-year-olds). Six- and seven-year-old stallions that participate in the World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses are eligible for recognition if they show an exceptional performance there. For the dressage stallions, the Breeding Council already recommended such a broadening of the regulations last year. A stallion that performs exceptionally at the World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses qualifies for recognition. Via this route, the Catoki-son Ermitage Kalone and the Bordeaux-offspring Johnny Depp were recognised. Ermitage Kalone is successful in the international 1.45m classes with Gilles Thomas (BEL), while Johnny Depp made a big impression at the WC for Young Horses with Renate van Uytert-van Vliet. 

AS Bombay

The eleven-year-old AS Bombay (Diamant de Semilly x Contender) jumps at 1.60m level with Wout-Jan van der Schans. They placed fourth in the Nations Cup of Kronenberg and were first in the second leg of the 2020 National Championships. AS Bombay meets the KWPN x-ray requirements regarding bone spavin and navicular bone. The genome breeding value and the conformation inspection yielded no remarks. AS Bombay has a genome breeding value of 99 (37% reliability). He is not a carrier of the WFFS-gene. 

Feromas van Beek Z

The ten-year-old Feromas van Beek (Fantomas de Muze x Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve) is successful in sports with Gilles Thomas. The pair placed third in the Sires of the Wolrd class in Lanaken, first in Zandhoven (1.50m), third in Rouen (1.50m) and third in the Global Tour of Monte Carlo (1.50m). 
Feromas van Beek Z meets the KWPN x-ray requirements regarding bone spavin and navicular bone. The genome breeding value and the conformation inspection yielded no remarks. Feromas van Beek has a genome breeding value of 96 (38% reliability). He is not a carrier of the WFFS-gene.

Ermitage Kalone

The eight-year-old Ermitage Kalone (Catoki x Kannan) is successful at 1.45m level with Gilles Thomas, they obtained multiple placements in the young horse classes last year. As a young horse, Ermitage Kalone was successful in the Belgian stallion competition. Last year, he was granted the Young Stallion Award by the BWP. 

Ermitage Kalone meets the KWPN x-ray requirements regarding bone spavin and navicular bone. The genome breeding value and the conformation inspection yielded no remarks. Ermitage Kalone has a genome breeding value of 98 (39% reliability). He is not a carrier of the WFFS-gene.

Luigi d’Eclipse

The eleven-year-old Luigi D’Eclipse (Catoki x Calato) is currently active in sport with Marlon Modolo Zanotelli. This combination claimed the second and third position in the Global Tour of Samorin at 1.55m and 1.50m height last year. Last KWPN Stallion Selection two sons of Luigi D’Eclipse advanced to the second-round viewing, one of which was appointed to the KWPN performance test. 

Luigi d’Eclipse meets the KWPN x-ray requirements regarding bone spavin and navicular bone. The genome breeding value and the conformation inspection yielded no remarks. Luigi d’Eclipse has a genome breeding value of 100 (37% reliability). He is not a carrier of the WFFS-gene.

Milton Z

The eleven-year-old Milton Z (Mylord Carthago x Sandro Boy) was successful in the Netherlands with Pim Mulder. Last year, he placed third in the Nations Cup of La Baule with 0 and 4 penalties. He obtained the same result in the Nations Cup of Rotterdam. By now, Milton Z is competing with Marcus Ehning in the saddle. 

Milton Z meets the KWPN x-ray requirements regarding bone spavin and navicular bone. The genome breeding value and the conformation inspection yielded no remarks. Milton Z has a genome breeding value of 97 (37% reliability). He is not a carrier of the WFFS-gene.

Johnny Depp

The eight-year-old Johnny Depp (Bordeaux x Jazz) is successful with Renate van Uytert-van Vliet, together they secured various victories in young horse competitions, such as the Subli Cup of 2019 and 2020, the Pavo Cup for five-year-olds in 2019 and a bronze medal at the National Championships in the Z2-class. Johnny Depp was selected for the World Breeding Dressage Championships for Young Horses three times and participated twice (due to the cancellation of the 2020 WCYH). At five years of age he qualified for the final and placed six and last year he claimed the seventh position in the final for seven-year-olds.

Johnny Depp meets the KWPN x-ray requirements. The genome breeding value and the conformation inspection yielded no remarks. Johnny Depp has a genome breeding value of 101 (49% reliability) and a dressage breeding value of 157 (51% reliability). The stallion was previously tested for WFFS by his owner, this showed that he is not a carrier of the WFFS-gene. The result of the control test ordered by the KWPN are not in yet.
