The KWPN-approved stallion McLaren was the last to enter the ring in the M-class of the Anemone Horse Trucks Stallion Competition Dressage. The winner of last season demonstrated he still possess abundant quality and showcased his talent in a performance that exuded harmony. For rider Dinja van Liere, it was the second class she won tonight. 

“Most people must have seen this was a beautiful test with lots of balance and expression”, explains commentating judge Janine van Twist. “The walk could be more spacious, so we give it an 8,3. The trot has a great push and McLaren exhibits a lovely frame with abundant balance and power, a 9,3. The canter displays a good jump and a soft contact, a 9.”

9,5 for submission

“And what about submission: do we have anything left to desire?”, continues Van Twist. “This combination was well on their way to a 10 for submission. Unfortunately, the stallion spooked one time so we grant them a 9,5.” Scoring a 9,1 for the general impression, McLaren secured a total of 90,4 points and that made the Morricon-son (out of Samatha by Sir Donnerhall, breeder U. Toenjes of Ganderkesee, Germany) the undisputed winner of the first competition. 

86,6 points for My Blue Hors Santiano

The KWPN-aproved stallion My Blue Hors Santiano (Sezuan out of Romanik by Romanov, breeder Straight Horse APS of Alleroed DEN) moved to 86,6 points under Renate van Uytert-van Vliet. “A powerful horse with a fantastic expression”, says commentating judge Janine van Twist. “The walk could be more spacious, and the back could swing more, but our mark of 8,2 indicates it is certainly not a poor walk. The trot has great balance and impulsion, an 8,7. The canter is powerful and covers a lot of ground, a 9. The mark for the submission (8,6) reflects an error in the transition.” An 8,8 for perspective brought the final score to 86,6 points. 

Mauro Turfhorst

Mauro Turfhorst (Zonik out of Hidaylia ster by Negro), also ridden by Dinja van Liere, completed the top-3 as his scores were exactly 86 points. The stallion that was bred by Jan Greve of Haaksbergen received a very consistent report card, highlights being the walk, submission, and perspective.
