It was a good first day of the first round viewing for jumper stallions in Ermelo. The stallion selection committee could select 22 stallions for the second round.

Over half of the presented stallions today advance to the KWPN Stallion Show in Den Bosch, making it a successful start. “It was a good day, the majority of the stallions was presented in a natural manner giving us a good impression of their natural talent”, Cor Loeffen explains. “The assistance in the cage was great, creating a tranquil setting which allowed us as a committee to work pleasantly as well. We have seen a number of interestingly bred stallions that also convinced us of their jumping abilities, which makes us hopeful for the second round. We also granted some stallions the opportunity to present themselves once more in Den Bosch, still basing the selection on conformation and pedigree. Since those two elements are unchanging. The correctness of the foundation was an important consideration in some cases, and we have clearly selected for that aspect. On a positive note, we have seen many well-developed stallions that possess a rectangular frame. We have been able to select for athletic ability and light-footedness. All in all, an encouraging start of the stallion selection.”

The recognized Olympic stallion Apardi had three sons advance to the next round, while two offspring were selected from Tobago Z, Opium JW van de Moerhoeve, Zirocco Blue VDL and Aganix du Seigneur. A total of 39 stallions was presented today.
