Kardinaal HX gets a beautiful victory in the Blom Cup
The KWPN-approved stallion Kardinaal HX (by Don Diablo HX) is the new champion of the Blom Cup for five-year-olds! Under Pieter Keunen, the Stal Hendrix owned stallion proved unbeatable.
Ten combinations returned for the jump-off in the final of the KWPN Championship for five-year-old showjumpers. Five of them completed the championship without a single error and the KWPN-approved stallion Kardinaal HX (Don Diablo HX out of Wimette ster sport-spr by Karandasj) ridden by Pieter Keunen from breeder Stal Hendrix did so in the fastest time. With his high degree of caution and good attitude, the wonderful stallion has made himself known.
“We have always had a lot of faith in Kardinaal HX and it is great that he became champion here. He comes from a great sport line, and was the only stallion from a Grand Prix dam to be approved that year. You’ll always get that back”, says Paul Hendrix. “As a young horse he sometimes suffered from tension, but now that he is getting more experience, he is getting better every time. It is a great recognition for the entire team that he became champion here.” As the last starter, Giovanni Romano pulled out all the stops with Eldorado van de Zeshoek son Kaspar R (out of Termieque elite prest PROK from Baloubet du Rouet, breeder M. Rietberg from Holten), closely related to Grandorado TN, and was just short in time to keep Keunen and Kardinaal HX from the victory. Kristian Houwen took third prize with the sharp Cidane daughter Kiekeboe VM keur EPTM-spr (out of Burandot ster IBOP-spr sport-spr PROK D-OC by Contendro II) from breeder Jan van Meever. This mare already jumped to 85 points in the EPTM as a three-year-old.
The breeders' premiums went to Stal Hendrix for Kardinaal HX as best stallion, Jan van Meever as breeder of best mare Kiekeboe VM and W. Liezen from Wanneperveen as breeder of the fourth-placed gelding Kadans (Quidam de Revel out of Catascha Z by Carthago) under Rogier Linssen. Kadans is registered with the Grooten-Kremer family from Swalmen.
