At the beginning of February, fans of the KWPN horse could enjoy the online KWPN Stallion Selection. Normally, this is in Den Bosch, but because of the corona outbreak, this year it was in Ermelo and could be followed by the public via the livestream. Something else that is different from other years is that the first and second inspections of the harness stallions are not scheduled in January and February, but on 3 April 2021.

How the measures concerning the Covid-19 regulations will develop in the coming period cannot be predicted. How the programme of the Stallion Show Harness horse in Ermelo on Saturday 3 April will look like depends on that.

As the costs for organising the stallion selection Tuigpaard are lower, the fee for the second viewing has been reduced to 150 euro (incl. VAT). Normally, harness stallions are required to undergo a radiographic examination (PROK) before participating in the second viewing. Now that these inspections are being held on the same day, it has been decided that appointment to the performance test and priming of stallions will be granted subject to the stallion's PROK result. The result of the PROK examination should be known before May 1, 2021.

Another new feature is that this time stallions will be judged on the street for conformation and correctness at the beginning of the programme. After all stallions have been scored linearly, they will come in the ring individually to be judged on movement. Previously, each stallion was judged in the ring on conformation and immediately after that on movement.

The Breeders of the Year and the Horse of the Year for the other breeding directions were already put in the spotlight last week during the KWPN Stallion Show. In 2020, the National Harness Horse Day, where normally the Harness Horse of the Year and the Breeder of the Year Harness Horse are announced and honoured, did not take place. For this reason, KWPN intends to announce the Breeder of the Year and the Harness Horse of the Year 2020 on April 3, during the Stallion Show of the Year. In addition, during the inspection there are breeders premiums, made available by the Friends of the KWPN, which are available for the premium stallions.

Stallion selection can take place on the basis of the 'Temporary Regulation for Covid-19 Measures' (see Article 3.1 Paragraph 2f and Article 3.2 Paragraph 2e). According to the currently applicable coronation measures, no public is allowed, and of course we will organise everything according to the guidelines as set by the government. We will keep a close eye on the developments, but you need not miss anything of the programme, which can be followed in full via the livestream on

At the moment, it is not permitted to compete in equestrian sports. This is not expected to be possible in the coming months either. To create clarity for the participants, it has been decided not to run the Oregon Trophy this year.

In the coming months, everything will be done to put together a nice program within the guidelines, with various presentations and items, recorded or not, being presented.
