Preparations KWPN Stallion Show 2022 in full swing
At the moment, a lot of work is being put into the organisation of the KWPN Stallion Show 2022. As is tradition, the event takes place in the first weekend of February, from Wednesday the 2nd until Saturday the 5th. The location is subject to the then-applicable measures imposed by the government regarding the fight against the coronavirus.
The KWPN Stallion Show is a fantastic event for breeders and KWPN-horse enthusiasts, where the best stallions show their qualities. Even though two scenarios are being developed right now – one for Den Bosch (with spectators) and one for the KWPN-center in Ermelo (with no or a limited audience) – the program again guarantees four days filled with the best our breeding and sport has to offer. All breeding directions are represented, and we treat you to a varied program every day.
Awarding premiums jumper stallions on Thursday
The first two days, Wednesday the 2nd and Thursday the 3rd of February, the jumper fanatics may indulge in their passion. The Wednesday revolves around the second-round viewing of the jumper stallions and a presentation of the appointed jumper stallions. On Thursday, the second-round viewing of jumper stallion continues and it is concluded by awarding the most complete stallions a premium. Thursday's program furthermore includes the presentation of the jumper stallions approved in 2021, the KWPN Select Sale jumper stallions, the always exciting VHO Trophy, the battle in the 1.40/1.50m classes for the Grand Prix, the award ceremony for the Jumping Horse of the Year and the thrilling conclusion to the Blom Stallion Competition Jumping.
Dressage and Gelder stallions
On Friday - traditionally known as the ‘dressage day’ – the second-round viewing of the dressage stallions is kicked off. Naturally, you also get to enjoy various dressage shows, such as the presentation of the dressage stallions that were approved in 2021 and the honouring ceremony of the Dressage Horse of the Year. Several young dressage talents also show their qualities in shows and masterclasses. In addition, the Gelder stallions show their qualities in the second-round viewing and directly afterwards the selected stallions receive their premium. The Gelder stallions that have been approved this year, will be presented to the audience, followed by the final of the Stallion Competition Gelder Horse.
On Saturday February 5th, dressage stallions will enter the arena once more in their quest for a ticket to the performance test. Immediately afterwards, it is announced which dressage stallions are declared premium and then it is time for the KWPN Select Sale dressage. In conclusion, the Anemone Horse Trucks Dressage finals are ridden.
Harness horses on Saturday
On Saturday the harness horse admirers are treated to several classes that celebrate this fierce show horse. Besides the second-round viewing and the premium round, you get to enjoy the battle for the Oregon Trophy. This class is always a sensation, winning this spectacular competition is an incredible honour for both stallion and rider as they will write history!

Definitive program and ticket sale
Behind the scenes, we are working hard on the content of the presentations, shows and masterclasses to offer you a fantastic program. In providing the definitive program and location, we depend on the measures that are imposed by the government. The additional measures that our outgoing cabinet has communicated yesterday are applicable as of Sunday November 28 until Sunday December 19. The situation is to be assessed again by the cabinet on Tuesday December 14. The measures that affect the sport are not applicable to the activities of the KWPN: for breeding organisations such as studbooks it is decided that activities in the interest of the studbooks that are stipulated in the statutes as activities of studbooks – such as the assessment of horses through inspection events and ability tests – may proceed. These activities are not categorized under sport but under breeding. However, the measures surrounding admission of spectators will influence the location (Brabanthallen or National Equestrian Center). The definitive program will be published in the lead-up to the KWPN Stallion Show.
Coming month, the ticket sale is expected to start via KWPN.nl. Of course, KWPN-members receive a discount on the tickets in the presale. For the time being we assume a wonderful live event, but we will obviously adhere to the then-applicable corona measures.
