Once again, the Oregon Trophy served thrills and spills in a buzzing Brabanthallen in Den Bosch. The crowd went wild in the concluding harness horse block at the KWPN Stallion Show. It was a clash of the titans between five stallions and their seasoned riders.

The jury of the Oregon Trophy was composed of chairman Derk Jan Mekkes, Lubbert van Oene and Dirk Jan Beijerinck. After a thrilling first round, the jury selected their top three. The electric Icellie (Bocellie out of Petrose ster pref by Jonker) and Harm-Jan Veenstra and the consistent Heliotroop VDM (Colonist out of Wunita ster pref by Reflex) presented by Henk Hammers shared the fourth place.

Final

The decisive final featured Idol (Manno out of Boukje keur by Plain’s Liberator) and Mark de Groot, Macho (Indiana out of Emone ster s.Unieko) ridden by Robbie van Dijk and the defender of the title, Magnifiek (Idol out of Helise keur s.Atleet) and Lambertus Huckriede. Idol showed his huge strides and proud bearing. Macho grew into the competition and got increasingly better and eager. Magnifiek energetically marched through the arena and fought to prolong his title. Cheered on by the audience it became clear these stallions have gained an impressive fanbase.

Magnifiek prolongs title

Like last year’s edition, the combative Magnifiek bested his sire Idol and peer Macho. The Oregon Trophy was thus bestowed on an emotional owner and rider Lambertus Huckriede.
