Dinja van Liere claimed the second title tonight! In the last age class of the Anemone Horse Trucks Stallion Competition of the night she added another two more wins to her tally. Aboard Mauro Turfhorst she grabbed the day prize, McLaren seized the overall competition title.

It proved to be a dream final for Reesink Horses of Eijbergen. All three classes of the Stallion Competition were won by Reesink stallions. Mauro Turfhorst (Zonik of Hidaylia ster by Negro, bred by Jan Greve of Haaksbergen) was awarded the highest score of the evening: 92,6 points. “Another fantastic test for Dinja”, Mariëtte – van Gansewinkel praised afterwards. “A light-footed and effortless performance, precisely as it should be. The walk shows a swinging back, the trot has a lot of technique and is so light-footed. Every stride is flawless, a 9,5. The canter is so effortless, with a beautiful balance and ample ability to collect and extent. This horse ticks all the boxes!”

One for the future

Morricone-son McLaren (out of Samatha by Sir Donnerhall I, bred by Ulf Toenjes of Ganderkesee) placed second in the final, obtaining 88 points, but held on to his leading position in the overall competition standings. “What an incredibly handsome horse! He knows it too. We noticed some minor submission issues, obviously caused by the impressive surroundings. His walk is supple, and that trot! Wow, it made us gasp. He moved with so much suspension, power, and elasticity. We have granted him a 9,5 for that gait. He had a small mistake in the contra canter, which we must reflect in our score. Yet still, what an alluring canter. This horse has everything, definitely one for the future.”

On the right track

Pavo Cup champion My Blue Hors Santiano (Sezuan out of Romanik by Romanov Blue Hors, breeder Straight Horse APS of Alleroed) completed the top three. He obtained 85,2 points in total today. “The walk shows a good overtrack and is active. In trot we saw lengthy strides, freedom in the shoulder and ample cadence. The canter is scopey and so powerful. A horse that is truly on the right track!”
