Twenty stallions on track to final exam performance test
The last intermediate evaluation of the jumper, dressage and Gelder stallions that participate in the spring performance test has taken place. All twenty stallions that were presented in the Willem-Alexander arena in Ermelo are on track for the final exam on Saturday April 22.
At the moment, there are two Gelder stallions that participate in the spring performance test. The stallions Olaf (Henkie out of Diamant ster by Sirius, bred by G.J.W. Roerdinkholder of Winterswijk Kotten) and Obrian (Vigaro out of Hacomijn ster PROK by W V Saron, bred by H. ter Horst of Vragender) were the first to be presented on Tuesday morning. They were first ridden in the indoor arena and then at the outdoor terrain (see video). Both stallions were given the green light to continue the performance test towards the final exam on Saturday.
Jumper stallions
The thirteen jumper stallions were next up. The group was assessed by the entire stallion selection committee jumping. Afterwards, the committee shared their findings with the registered owners. It now appears that all thirteen stallions participate in the final exam on Saturday and on that day, it will be announced which stallions will be approved.
Denis Lynch
The Irish top rider Denis Lynch was present during the evaluation of the jumper stallions. During the KWPN Online Select Sale the Dutch-based Irishman bought both the Panenka de Kalvarie-son Piqué (out of Haya PB ster by Vigo d’Arsouilles, bred by Stal Brinkman) and the premium stallion Popino-Larus (Gaspahr out of Tina-Laris stb prest PROK by Voltaire, bred by Jan Hoppenbrouwers). Both stallions may prepare themselves for the final exam on Saturday.
Dressage stallions
At 12.00hrs the dressage stallions could enter the arena for their final intermediate assessment. The stallion selection committee is confidently looking forward to Saturday’s exam, for which all five stallions may prepare themselves.
Final exam
The final exam for the dressage, jumper and Gelder stallions is scheduled for Saturday April 22. The program kicks off at 08.00hrs with five groups of jumper stallions. Afterwards, the Gelder stallions perform their final test followed by the dressage horses.
After successful completion of the performance test, Gelder stallions must furthermore pass two one-day tests in the discipline other than the discipline examined during the performance test. As part of achieving full approval, the Gelder stallion Ojee-B (Ibsen B out of Jorien Tilde PROK elite IBOP s.Rubus B, bred by G.S.W. te Bokkel of Eerbeek) is presented in hand on Saturday to receive the result of his assessment under saddle.
