Bert Rutten, the chairman of the KWPN Stallion Selection Committee, decided to resign after the autumn performance test. Rutten sold his stable in Hunsel a while ago, which caused his business activities to shift towards coaching national and international pupils.

“I can no longer combine my tasks for the stallion selection committee with my work as an instructor”, explains Rutten. “Life has significantly changed since the sale of the business, forcing me to evaluate in which direction I wanted to go, and I now choose guiding riders at international shows.”

Close to my heart

“I have always enjoyed my work in the inspection arena, and that makes it all the more difficult to stop. I am looking back on a wonderful time during which I have seen many good horses. The KWPN remains close to my heart, I believe we may be truly proud of our studbook.”

Seven years in the committee

Bert Rutten (1961) has been part of the stallion selection committee since December 2015, following in the footsteps of Wim Ernes. The first crop of stallions he had to assess as a member of the stallion selection committee, was the I-year, which produced a lot of Grand Prix stallions.
