Interesting KWPN Select Sale Collection Launched
For over 20 years, the KWPN Select Sale has been producing horses that shine at the highest level, such as Island VG ridden by Kim Emmen, Hartsuijker ridden by Dinja van Liere, and the Olympic horse Flambeau ridden by Larissa Pauluis. The collection set to go under the hammer during the KWPN Stallion Show is now available for viewing. “These are horses we would love to buy ourselves,” says selection committee member Sjaak van der Lei.
The dressage collection features several interestingly bred stallions, such as Suomi STMT, a son of Bordeaux. His dam is a half-sister to the KWPN-approved stallions UB40 and Davino V.O.D. Shemar I.K. is one of three sons of Total McLaren in the collection. This stallion descends from the dam line of the international Grand Prix stallion Westpoint. Or how about Sunshine (by Total McLaren)? He is the half-brother of the KWPN-approved premium stallion Pride (by Secret), who was sold for €200,000 at the KWPN Select Sale.
Strong 1.60m influences
The showjumping collection also boasts top quality and strong pedigrees. The well-bred Prudence Gold R.T. Z not only combines the Grand Prix sport and breeding stallions Perigueux and Quick Star in his pedigree but is also the grandson of the international 1.50m mare Uranie du Meslier. Sidd (by Verdi) is the younger half-brother of Indeno (by Q. Breitling LS), who jumped his first 1.50m classes last year. Samurai W (by Cavalier Russe Z) is the half-brother of the top-performing KWPN-approved stallion Zèlote VDL (by Chin Chin).
“Even better than before”
Both the KWPN Select Sale at the KWPN Stallion Show and the KWPN Select Sale during the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses were highly successful last year. The now-approved stallion Rayano was sold for €130,000 in February, and Of Ice And Fire US was sold for €335,000 in September. According to the selection committees, expectations for this year’s collections are high. “I believe we have once again put together a fantastic collection this year—it’s even better than previous years,” says Rom Vermunt, who is enthusiastic about the dressage collection.
A unique opportunity
Sjaak van der Lei, one of the selectors of the showjumping collection, is equally excited. “I found that we saw a very strong group of showjumping horses during the first inspection, and breeders were eager to participate. So, I believe we have been able to select a strong group of showjumping horses as a result.” The KWPN Select Sale is a unique opportunity to acquire a highly promising stallion, both for sport and breeding. “The KWPN Select Sale offers a fantastic chance to view an excellent collection of horses in a relatively easy manner,” explains Rom Vermunt.
Live and online bidding
All stallions will be presented again during the second viewing in ’s-Hertogenbosch. The showjumping stallions will go under the hammer on Thursday, January 30, and the dressage stallions on Saturday, February 1. Enthusiasts from all over the world can place bids both online and live during the KWPN Stallion Show.
