Glamourdale shines as KWPN Horse of the Year 2024
During the Friday evening of the KWPN Stallion Show, Glamourdale showed why he was named KWPN Horse of the Year 2024. Under his regular rider Charlotte Fry, the reigning world champion and Olympic bronze medalist danced through the arena.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the impressive black stallion had been elected KWPN Horse of the Year for the third time with a resounding majority of votes. Glamourdale, a son of Lord Leatherdale, was bred by J.W. Rodenburg and was spotted as a foal by owner Gertjan van Olst of Van Olst Horses, who bought him immediately.
Sports achievements
The KWPN stallion has already amassed an impressive list of achievements, both in sport and breeding. The 2014 KWPN Stallion Show champion won the World Championship for Young Dressage Horses for seven-year-olds in 2018, became a two-time world champion in Herning in 2022, and won gold with the British team and individual silver with 92.38% at the 2023 European Championships. In 2024, the KWPN stallion took Olympic bronze in the freestyle in Paris with 88.97%.
Keur stallion
To the music of his ‘Best of Britain’ freestyle, with which they also won bronze in Paris, the duo moved through the arena. Floor Dröge: “We will not only honor Glamourdale as Horse of the Year, but he will now also be known as a keur stallion.”
