McMary Wins Pavo Cup Title with a Perfect 10
McMary consistently proves under Phoebe Peters that she is truly something special. As the only four-year-old to surpass 90 points in the Pavo Cup final, the McLaren daughter made her dominance clear. Guest rider Simone Pearce was equally impressed by the top talent and awarded her a perfect 10.
McMary (by McLaren out of Artistic by Ampère, bred by Dennis Schurink from Groenlo and Jeroen Slot from Haaksbergen) won both the semi-final and the first part of the final, steadily increasing her lead. She then added the day’s only perfect 10. “Wow, what an incredible horse,” praised Simone. “If this isn’t a future Grand Prix horse, then there are no Grand Prix horses in the Netherlands. She’s super attentive, focused, and gives a fantastic feeling.”
Phoebe Peters was overjoyed with her second Pavo Cup victory. “Speechless,” she began. “She’s the most amazing horse I’ve ever ridden—in both talent and character. She loves going to competitions, and it’s an honor to ride her.”
Honest Stallion
The difference between second and third place was minimal. Both received an 8.5 from the guest rider, but based on earlier performances on Thursday and this morning, Final Dream (by Fontaine TN out of Kenna NL ster by Johnson, bred by Team Nijhof of Geesteren and A.J.G. Flierman of Ruurlo) secured second place under Diederik van Silfhout. “This horse gives a very good feeling,” said Simone. “He still needs to gain some strength, but that’s typical for a large four-year-old. The canter is lovely, he moves uphill with ease, and feels very honest.”
8.5 from the Guest Rider
KWPN stallion Real Dream (by Dynamic Dream out of Fivanny ster PROK by Negro, bred by H.A. van Triest from Elburg and Maatschap Pleyter from Zalk) finished third under Charlotte Fry. “A very nice horse with good hind leg use, especially in the canter, which gave a great feeling. He felt a bit tired today, which is understandable for a four-year-old performing twice in one day. As a result, he could have shown a bit more impulsion today.”
