Performance test report

Performance Ermelo 1985
Obedient, honest, good humor and quite friendly. He was green at the start of the test. He was always rather stiff at the start of his work, had trouble giving and held himself going to the left. After he working for a while he limbered up and was nice to ride. The walk has scope and sufficient power but does not always regularity. The trot is big with little suppleness. The canter is regular. He does not show much skill in jumping under saddle though he did get more skillful as the test went on. He uses his back well in free jumping. The foreleg is too far underneath. He works well in cross-country. He is sufficiently willing to work and finds it normal. He has more than sufficient talent for dressage, jumping and cross-country. He was in good condition upon arrival and remained that way. He received less feed than normal. In his stall he almost always has his butt against the bars. Otherwise he was calm in his stall.

Square model, somewhat short-coupled but with a strong build. The neck is a little short and deep.

Offspring 1987 (foals)
The development of the foals is not uniform. The picked foals appeared to be barely sufficient. The selected foals were better; they were sufficient riding type. Both groups had foals that were short-coupled; the selected foals appeared to have longer lines. On the whole the foals have a perceptibly strong and deep rump. The head is well formed, hard and lean. The well-formed neck is carried well in movement; the picked foals had a neck that was sometimes a little short and deep from the chest. The wither is rather short, flat and not yet developed. The shoulder could be longer and, in a number of cases, could have more slope. The back is good and the loins are strong and well connected. The collection has a very uniform croup shape, it is very well formed and strong though it could sometimes be longer. The foreleg is correct; it could have a little more joint and is sometimes it is tied in. Once in a while the foreleg is straight. The walk is sufficient to good. Generally the trot is good; some foals did not move out of the shoulder enough, especially the group of selected foals. The use of the hindleg is always good and therefore often has tact and balance.

In short: sufficient riding type, short-coupled foals that trot well with good use of the hindleg.
