The six-year-olds faced a demanding final at the World Championships in Lanaken. Max van de Poll and Ortane, a daughter of Balou du Rouet, were the only pair to deliver a double clear round, earning them the world title.

With three horses finishing in the top eight, KWPN enjoyed a highly successful championship. Bred by Dirk van der Linden and Corina van der Heijden, Ortane (Balou du Rouet out of Polly II by Quinar) entered the jump-off second and produced a quick, faultless round under Max van de Poll. None of the six remaining contenders managed to keep a clean sheet, securing the World Championship title for Max and his own Ortane. “This is amazing, Ortane is an incredibly careful mare, but things didn’t quite go our way on the first day. On the second day she jumped a fantastic clear round, and in today’s final she once again gave me the feeling that she can and wants to clear anything,” the rider shared enthusiastically. Max, who qualified with Ortane through the Van Santvoort Makelaars Cup, added: “She has everything, and with her it never feels big. I hope I can enjoy her for a long time because I believe she has a great future ahead of her. Of course, she’s now very much in the spotlight, so we’ll see what the future brings.” Max purchased the newly crowned world champion two years ago and has produced her himself.

Jumping talent and rideability
Another outstanding prospect, Oreo Brownie H (Diarado out of Elahniki keur EPTM-spr prest by Carembar de Muze, breeder Harm Hartlief from Peize), claimed fifth place with Benedikte Serigstad Endresen. For the second year in a row, this stallion reached the World Championship final. He was purchased as a foal by Martin Oosterlaar, who remains co-owner. “An amazing horse, stunning, extremely rideable, and with a fantastic jumping technique. This is pure joy. Next year we plan to make him available to breeders again, and we have high hopes for Oreo Brownie.” Carrera VDL’s son Orlando-N (out of Kaloma-N ster sport-spr PROK D-OC by Great Blue, breeder P. Nijssen from Heusden) also made his mark as the fastest four-faulter. With rider Kris Christians, he was invited back for the prize giving and finished in eighth place.
