Strongest KWPN Select Sale collection ever launched
For decades, the KWPN Select Sale has been known as the place to acquire talent. The auction successes of recent years have ensured more interest than ever in the most prestigious KWPN auction. “The results of recent years speak for themselves; the quality of the stallions is exceptionally high, and that in turn attracts new clients,” selector Nico Witte explains.
For more than 20 years, the KWPN Select Sale has delivered horses that shine at the very highest level. Currently, Mauro Turfhorst N.O.P. is making waves under Dinja van Liere, the Olympic Flambeau of Larissa Pauluis is highly successful on the World Cup circuit, and Leonardo Da Vinci J.P.P., with Oda Charlotte Lingvaer, appears to be well on his way to the top of show jumping. Last year’s sales horses Story of the Year PP and auction topper Scaramouche have since been approved as stallions. This year’s collection certainly does not disappoint either.
From World Champions to Grand Prix horses
With a total of 44 stallions, this KWPN Select Sale collection is the strongest ever. The dressage collection consists of 25 stallions, all of whom impress with their qualities, looks, and pedigrees. Such as the My Blue Hors Santiano son Turner C. His granddam is the full sister of none other than the Grand Prix stallion Krack C. The Osaka son Tamimt Tayri Taghbalt also comes from a proven dam line and traces back in the third generation to the strongly National Championship mare Poriana, the granddam of the two-time World Champion and Grand Prix stallion Kjento. And what about Ti Sento? He is, in turn, a son of Kjento; his dam, Fieni (by Krack C), proved herself at ZZ-Licht level and is the half-sister of the international Grand Prix horses Kastel’s Nintendo (by Negro) and Zoe (by Negro). Will Tzadok follow in the footsteps of his sire Mauro Turfhorst, one of the KSS references? His dam performed at ZZ-Licht level, was already a finalist at the National Mare Inspection as a three-year-old, and represents a strong sport lineage.
An abundance of 1.60m genes
The jumping collection also lacks neither quality nor strong pedigrees. For example, the granddam of the Chacco-Blue son Cinsault de Fer van ’t Studutch, Sea Coast Ferly, proved herself at the highest level with Gudrun Patteet, and the dam line continues with the renowned Grand Prix mares Narcotique de Muze II and Qerly Chin. The granddam of the Don’t Touch Tiji Hero son Duncan Z comes from the successful Gin Tonic van het Gerendal, who successfully made her debut at 1.55m level last year at the age of nine under Armando Trapote. The dam of the Lord President son Temperament J.O. is the half-sister of the top show jumper Adamo (by Lupicor), who was successful in Grands Prix and World Cup competitions. Pleasure van de Moervelden is a son of Pegase van ’t Ruytershof and bred out of the mare Die’Hard 111 Z. She is a half-sister of the internationally placed 1.50/1.55m horses Karamel de Mauretus Z (by Kannan) with Jack Whitaker and Bolero 111 (by Chatman) with Darragh Kenny, and traces back to the line of Olympic medal winner Sapphire of McLain Ward and Jur Vrieling’s WEG and European Championship stallion Glasgow van ’t Merelsnest.
Potential licensed stallions and sport horses
Last year’s KWPN Select Sale was once again very successful; the Glock’s Toto Jr son Scaramouche became the absolute auction topper at 280,000 euros and was recently approved by the KWPN. The 110,000 euro Tycoon (by Taurus) is also living up to all expectations in America. “I think we have once again succeeded in putting together a fine collection this year,” Rom Vermunt says enthusiastically about the dressage collection. “This is also due to the great results of the KWPN Select Sale in recent years. As a result, selection has become easier for us as well. In addition to potential licensed stallions, we have tried to select a number of excellent future sport horses. It is a diverse collection in terms of bloodlines, size, and type, so there is something for everyone.”
“A very fine opportunity”
Sjaak van der Lei, one of the selectors of the jumping collection, is also enthusiastic. “I think that thanks to all the recent KSS successes, we have been able to select a strong group of jumping horses.” The KWPN Select Sale is a unique opportunity to acquire a very promising stallion, both for sport and breeding. “The KWPN Select Sale offers a very fine opportunity to view a high-quality collection of horses in a relatively simple way,” Rom Vermunt explains.
