Top talent Party In De Hus impresses in the VHO Trophy
The VHO Trophy provided an exciting conclusion to Thursday evening at the KWPN Stallion Show. The nine-year-old Party In De Hus, ridden by Willem Greve, outperformed a strong and high-quality field of stallions. Party In De Hus is a son of Kannan, who was named Jumping Horse of the Year earlier that evening.
Fifteen stallions qualified for the jump-off of the 1.40m VHO Trophy, where everything had to come together for a top result. As the last combination to start, Willem Greve and Party In De Hus (Kannan out of Miss Coriano by Coriano, breeder Haras de Hus, Petit Mars) were almost a full second faster than the rest of the field, securing the VHO Trophy. This marked the first appearance of the fully approved Party In De Hus at the KWPN Stallion Show, as the stallion was only recognized last week.
A dream horse
Willem Greve is not only the rider of Party In De Hus, but also co-owner together with Canadian Jennifer Delorme. “This is a fantastic horse with all the possibilities,” he said enthusiastically. “He has exceptional rideability, a heart of gold, a fantastic attitude and is extremely careful. He was very well produced by my brother-in-law Jules de Bruijn. I’ve known this horse for a long time, Jules was based at my yard for a while, so I saw Party In De Hus every day. He truly is a dream horse. Initially, I bought him for sport, but it’s great to also be able to offer such a quality horse to breeders. I hope that next year he can combine sport and breeding successfully, so we can enjoy him for many years to come. On to more.”
Prize winners
Giampiero Garofalo took risks in the jump-off with Lambrusco (Entertainer out of Total Touch by Lux, breeder L. Keunen-Hanssen, Linne) and came closest to the winning time. Luke Hill also enjoyed a strong evening, finishing third with Night Life VDL (Erco van ’t Roosakker out of Ialba VDL by Arezzo VDL, breeder VDL Stud, Bears), just ahead of his own second mount Sambucci de Muze (Hunters’ Scendro out of Malissa de Muze by Vigo D’Arsouilles, breeder J. de Brabander, Sint-Niklaas). In fifth place was another son of Kannan: Kentucky TMS Z (out of Elite van Prinseveld by Toulon, breeder Tal Milstein Stables, Asse), ridden by Maikel van der Vleuten. Hessel Hoekstra and New Pleasure VDL (For Pleasure out of Lady-A ter Putte by Diamant de Semilly, breeder Familie de Martelaere, Stal van de Zuidakker, Barssevelde) completed the prize-giving lineup in sixth place.
