Expressive Obsession Taonga claims Z-level Stallion Competition title
The KWPN Stallion Show provides the stage today for the finals of the Anemone Horse Trucks Stallion Competition Dressage. The first championship sash was just awarded to the Vitalis son Obsession Taonga, who impressed under Lara van Nek with a score of 86.4 points.
The outcome of the Z-level of the Anemone Horse Trucks Stallion Competition Dressage had effectively already been decided during the qualifying rounds. Obsession Taonga (Vitalis out of Jatilinda elite pref IBOP-dres sport-dres PROK by All At Once, bred by Stal 104 BV from Wijdewormer) convinced time and again, with a highlight score of 90.8 points in Kronenberg. He was the only stallion to compete in three qualifiers, which put him firmly on course for today’s title. With an outstanding performance this afternoon, Obsession Taonga once again proved that he fully deserved this victory.
Strong pirouettes
The finals of the Stallion Competition are judged today by Eva Möller, Monique Peutz and Brecht D’Hoore. “This stallion was very pleasant to ride and we were particularly impressed by his canter pirouettes,” said Monique Peutz enthusiastically. “He shows an excellent ability to collect, which is very important for a future at the highest level of the sport. He is a horse with three good basic gaits and a lot of presence, working harmoniously with his rider. For us, that indicates a very promising future.” For Lara van Nek, this marks her first victory in the competition. “I’m incredibly happy. We’ve competed twice before, so there was no obligation for us to take part this year. I personally chose to compete again because these are very nice shows and great practice for Obsession. I’m very proud of how he performed here today. He is a very eager and intelligent horse, and it’s wonderful to work with a horse like that.”
