New generation delivers a highly informative presentation
Under the inspiring guidance of former stallion selection committee member Johan Hamminga, twelve stallions approved last year were presented, including three shown together with their sport-performing dams.
The presentation of the new generation offered a renewed look at, among others, the champion stallion So Unique STH (Vivino out of L’Unique STH elite EPTM-dres sport-dres PROK by Boston STH, bred/owned by Lens and Berna Nekeman). Ridden by Nicky Snijder, he moved through the arena with great expression, suppleness and self-carriage. Two-time Pavo Cup champion Nashville SW (Secret out of Esina elite IBOP-dres sport-dres pref PROK by Jazz, bred by Stal Willig), owned by Marco te Brake, also showed clear progress. Under his rider and new mother Femke de Laat, he once again impressed with his aptitude for higher-level work. Sarai L (Secret out of For Real by For Romance), bred by L Horses and co-registered with Stal Van de Sande, presented himself with notable self-carriage, power and elasticity under Lina Uzunhasan.
Like mother, like son
A particularly interesting aspect was the presentation of three stallions alongside their dams, all competing at a high level. The Hermès son Spectre demonstrated his talent together with his Grand Prix dam Jamaica elite IBOP-dres sport-dres pref PROK (s.Vivaldi). The two large-framed horses showed striking similarities. The Ferguson son Sensation Gold also has a dam competing at Grand Prix level; this elite EPTM-dres sport-dres pref D-OC mare clearly showed that Sensation Gold’s qualities are well inherited. Strong similarities were likewise evident between the impressive Scaramouche (s.Glock’s Toto Jr.) and his Light Tour dam Linskymorijke elite IBOP-dres sport-dres PROK D-OC (s.Negro). Both stood out for their presence, rideability and suppleness.
