Talent convincing and loudly acclaimed harness horse champion
Twelve harness horse stallions were entered for the second inspection during the KWPN Stallion Show on Saturday. Ten of them actually appeared in the arena, six of which were selected for the performance test. Two of those stallions were invited for the championship round.
Almost all stallions had developed well since the first inspection and presented themselves attractively. This made the task especially challenging for the jury team consisting of chairman Thomas van der Weiden, Bauke de Boer, Jan Cees van der Endt and inspector Viggon van Beest. The stallions were presented in two groups.
Talent takes the lead
Two stallions were invited for the exciting final championship round: the aptly named Talent (Magnifiek out of HE-Roos keur ibop (Harness) s.Crescendo HBC). This dark bay stallion was bred by Fokkelien Oldenburger and H. Schut from Grootegast and is registered to Marcel Ritsma from Wijnjewoude and the Pos family from Ankeveen. Also invited was the elegant Tobias V by Macho out of Jelinda Elarda ster (s.Eebert), bred by Piet van der Velden from Vorstenbosch and registered to William Duffy in the United States. He was present at the awards ceremony and also keeps Macho at his stable at home. Ultimately, Talent claimed the championship title amid loud applause from the audience. The chairman explained: “With two such stallions in the arena, we really made it difficult for ourselves. Both have many qualities, though different ones. In the end, we decided to go with the overall picture, and Talent was crowned champion.”
Six stallions to Ermelo
Also referred to the performance test was Tironno, a son of Magnifiek. Tironno’s dam is the ster mare Nina by Cizandro. The grey stallion was bred by the De Man family in Herwijnen and is registered to the Haarsma family in Tjerkwerd. Thomas BFT was also selected to go to Ermelo. He comes from a line of top harness horses. His sire is Norbert FS and his dam is Eejoys A (keur ibop (Harness) s.Manno). He was bred by Brian Franken in Elspeet and is registered to Freek Saris in Wesepe. Trudalyo (Nibali out of Malya ster s.Manno) will also try his luck in Ermelo. He was bred by the Bakker family in Hooghalen and is registered to R. Hofstra from Terwispel and M. Oosterlaar from Luttenberg. In addition, the well-modelled Troubadour AC (Onana out of Mona Lieza s.Avion Pierre), bred by Annemiek Calis from Westereen and now registered to HBC Stal in Boyl and Toon van Doorn from Soest, was selected. In the selection of Troubadour AC, the low inbreeding coefficient of 8.2 percent also played a role.
