Besides the various attractive shows, which also featured the well-preserved grandmaster and preferent stallion Cizandro, the three-year-old stallions were also presented in IJsselmuiden. They were divided into six groups and appeared before a packed grandstand and three judges: chairman Thomas van der Weiden, Bauke de Boer, and debutant Jan Cees van der Endt. Viggon van Beest was present as Harness Horse Inspector. In total, eleven three-year-old stallions were selected for ’s-Hertogenbosch.

The jury committee was very pleased with the conditions: “On the street we were able to evaluate the stallions very well. The indoor facilities were also highly suitable for this event. The schedule ran smoothly, which is always appreciated by owners and spectators. Attendance was excellent, especially considering the poor weather in the morning and the fact that many people had to travel from afar. As for the stallions themselves, it was a somewhat mixed group of three-year-olds. In general, we had hoped to see a few more stand-out individuals. In quite a number of horses we mainly missed body posture and power in the hind leg. We believe this is related to a less optimal connection in the back and loin. Heading towards ’s-Hertogenbosch, we hope that the referred stallions will continue to develop as expected.”

Cautious Start
In the first group, one of the five stallions was referred to the second round viewing in ’s-Hertogenbosch: Thiemo V (Icelli out of Ilina elite pref prok IBOP-tuig by Eebert). The chestnut was bred by G. Veenstra in Kornhorn and is registered to M.T. Tomikowski in Sedziny, Poland. Tornado K (Heliotroop out of Iwanita elite pref IBOP-tuig by Ditisem, bred/owned by the Kamphorst family from Zwartebroek) did not advance to ’s-Hertogenbosch but was awarded the ster predicate. The same applied to Tiësto VBA (Icellie out of Jilanda ster by Fabuleus, bred by J. Dijkmans from Eersel and registered to M.J. van Bruggen from Varik).

More Macho
In the second group, two chestnut stallions—both by Macho—were referred to ’s-Hertogenbosch: Tobias V (out of Jelinda Elarda ster by Eebert, bred by P.A.M. van der Velden from Vorstenbosch and registered to W. Duffy in the USA) and The Nexxt (out of Mexxima ster by Cizandro, bred by H. Lassche from Rouveen and registered to M.H.H. Ritsma from Wijnjewoude). A ster predicate was awarded to Titanic (Macho out of Gareda ster pref by Cizandro, bred by the De Man family from Herwijnen and registered to the Haarsma family in Tjerkwerd).

Grandson of Newly Approved Keur Stallion Selected
In the third group, one stallion was referred to ’s-Hertogenbosch: Tironno, a son of Magnifiek (s.Idol). His dam is the ster mare Nina by Cizandro. The grey stallion was bred by the De Man family in Herwijnen and is registered to the Haarsma family in Tjerkwerd. Two stallions from this group received the ster predicate: Tuttifrutti (Macho out of Jidee ster PROK by Atleet, bred by the Cazemier family in Nuis and registered to K. Buist from Nuis and L.F. Mollema-Lievers from Steendam) and Tisum (Macho out of Indira keur IBOP-tuig) by Eebert, bred by H. Bouwers in Dalen and registered to S. Ardesch from Lemele).

One Through
Six stallions competed in the fourth group, but selection was limited: only one stallion was designated for the second round viewing in ’s-Hertogenbosch, named Talent (Magnifiek out of HE-Roos keur IBOP-tuig by Crescendo). This dark bay stallion was bred by H. Schut from Grootegast and is registered to Marcel Ritsma from Wijnjewoude and the Pos family from Ankeveen. The well-modelled Tequila HVM (Magnifiek out of Den Roos keur IBOP-tuig and sport-tuig by Tendens HBC, bred/owned by H. van Middelaar from Hoornsterzwaag) received the ster predicate.

Strong Group
Five stallions competed in the fifth group, which proved to be particularly strong: no fewer than four were selected for the second round viewing in ’s-Hertogenbosch. Among them was Thomas K, a grey stallion by Magnifiek out of the well-known mare line of the Van Wessel family. His dam is Kianita elite IBOP-tuig PROK by Eebert. He was bred by the Kamphorst brothers in Zwartebroek and is registered to Lambertus Huckriede in Enschede. Thomas BFT also earned an invitation. He descends from a line of top harness horses, being by Norbert FS and out of Eejoys A keur IBOP-tuig by Manno). He was bred by Brian Franken in Elspeet and is registered to Freek Saris in Wesepe. Tornado (Norking Apple out of Irenolia ster by Aron HBC), bred and registered by the Ruinemans family from Vlagtwedde (with co-registration to N. Alting from Sellingen), also advances to ’s-Hertogenbosch. The fourth ticket went to Techno Apple MJDB (Norking Apple out of Nertida ster by Cizandro), bred/owned by M.J. de Boer from Wanneperveen.

Register B Stallions
The final group produced two more stallions for ’s-Hertogenbosch and one ster stallion. Advancing to the second round viewing are Trudalyo (Nibali out of Malya ster by Manno), bred by the Bakker family from Hooghalen and registered to R. Hofstra from Terwispel and M. Oosterlaar from Luttenberg, as well as the well-modelled Troubadour AC (Onana out of Mona Lieza by Avion Pierre), bred/owned by A.M. Calis from Westereen. Awarded the ster predicate was T Jay C (Melody Acres My-Quest out of Jay Rose keur IBOP-tuig by Plain’s Liberator), bred/owned by Wim Cazemier from Zevenhuizen.
